A New Generation with Old Ideas...

The pandemic really knocked us through a loop. It discombobulated the way restaurants do business, the way we do business. We struggled to find our footing in a world that has really changed.

But we're back now and our feet are firmly on the ground thanks to our daughter Jessica. She has the grit and determination of her grandmother Ms. Fran. She recognized and returned the business to its original mission.

In 1929 the Island View was built as a dance hall and picnic grove. A place where social events could be held, and city residents could escape the summer heat. The Island View property has always been a social hub. Jessica's grandparents (Tom & Fran) hosted hundreds of social events, weightlifting contests, corporate picnics, social club and pleasure club events, weddings, wakes and retirements. Our neighbors who needed a larger backyard enjoyed the Island View as a place to celebrate.

Our 104-year-old neighbor (Ms. Beck, who worked here as a young girl, may she rest in peace) described Boumi Temple events from the 1930's complete with a marching band parading down Barrison Point Road. She described serving guest in the picnic grove and dances held in the dance hall.

The Island View has a rich history as an event property and Jessica (3rd generation) recognized it and returned it to its roots. With her guidance the property will see it's 100-year anniversary in 2029!

P.S. The day-to-day Cafe' operation has taken a back seat for now but is still available for group reservations. The Cafe will be exclusively yours; you won't be sharing it with strangers or pushed to a back room or corner and you won't be staring at the blank walls of a hall. You will be enjoying the panoramic view of the Chesapeake Bay. It can all be exclusively yours! To book your party touch the links below...

P.P.S. The Island View has one of the oldest, operating (picnic grove) liquor licenses in Baltimore County. It was issued in 1929 just as Prohibition ended and has been in operation ever since.
